Here are three ways to use social media to your blog to increase awareness of it.
This seems like a no-brainer, but I am amazed at how many blogs I see that don’t have any social sharing buttons. These buttons for Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, Pinterest, and so on (add as many as you can!) are usually an easy-to-install plugin, and it makes it incredibly easy for readers to share your posts.
Have updated profiles on all social sites and be active on them. You don’t need to be online 24/7 but be active enough to be considered a participant. Every time you write a blog, you need to post it to you profiles. This will make it easier for family and friends to share it as well, via you. Eventually, this will help you build a bigger and bigger audience.
One thing I love about social media is that you have opportunities to connect with people you wouldn’t necessarily have been able to in pre-social media days. Use this to your advantage and reach out to people. You can make people aware of you –and hence your work—by acknowledging them if they get an award or telling them you mentioned them in your work. Connect with people in your same field and see if you could write a guest post for their blog—or ask them to do one for you. There are any number of reasons you can use to get people’s attention, thus creating more awareness of your blog.
If you are blogging for your business, don’t underestimate the importance of social media in getting your message out there and increasing traffic to your website—which hopefully will result in more customers. Make it easy for people to share what you’ve written, be active enough, and network with others, and you will find that blogging will become in incredibly powerful tool for your business.
