In this recent article, the author describes the current power struggle of Google and Apple. Siri’s voice recognition software for those who do not know is Apple’s interestingly successful attempt at a voice search, task management, and general personal assistant. Remember Ask Jeeves? Well this is Ask Siri, a voice recognition software program that can seriously improve the efficiency of your day.  The software is quite brilliant. It takes a wide range of vocabulary, task management, and ability to interact and make informed decisions.  For something as simple as where to eat, the software must know the difference between Thia, Korean, and American foods.   Siri not only knows the difference between Sushi and a Gyro, Siri can analyze reviews and even make reservations for you. Ask Jeeves was just a butler with answers. Siri is a full on personal assistant.

There is no way Google is going to be left in the dust on this one. Reportedly there are tons of patents being filed by both companies in order to try and corner these markets. Google has some very creative projects in the works besides voice recognitionon software applications. The self driving car is one example, in fact legislators just passed a law in California to allow the testing and sale of these driver less cars. My personal favorite recent Google patent has got to be the ability to turn things on and off by looking at them.  Imagine the possiblities!
